Greening of city tram lanes

  

• With the aim of realising the initiative called "Environment Leading City Kagoshima," Kagoshima City has been promoting a unique project since 2006 as part of its effort to create a comfortable environment surrounded by green.
• A 35,000 square kilometre green carpet, which extends for 8.9 kilometres on public roads, has greatly contributed to the reduction of the heat island effect and noise, as well as to the improvement of the urban landscape and the creation of a healthy and relaxed atmosphere.
• It is highly regarded by citizens and tourists alike as the new cityscape that symbolises the town.
